Semantic Computing Group |
The goal of the Semantic Computing Group is to develop new techniques that allow humans to interact with technical devices, machines including robots as well as to access large knowledge resources in an intuitive fashion.
In particular, the group aims to develop techniques for:
- Semantic-level knowledge access (e.g. by browsing)
- Techniques for structuring large unstructured data sources according to semantic and cognitive principles
- Language-based interaction with machines, technical devices, robots and knowledge
- Generation of advanced narrative structures supporting knowledge access
- Acquisition of Knowledge and cognitive capabilities by machines
- Context- and situation-based man-machine communication
- Knowledge access across natural languages
- Multimodal grounding of concepts
As such, the Semantic Computing Group performs research at the intersection of a number of research areas, including:
- Information retrieval
- Multimedia information systems
- Natural Language Processing / Computational Semantics
- Knowledge Representation (in particular ontologies)
- Semantic Web
- Cognitive Interaction Technology
