Dr. Sebastian Walter

Sebastian Walter holds a BSc in Cognitive Informatics and a MSc in Informatics in the Natural Sciences from Bielefeld University. His research interest lies in the area of computational linguistics and computational semantics, with a focus on ontology-based natural language understanding, question answering, and the automatic generation of multilingual lexica from ontologies. He was working on the BMBF project Kognihome, and has also worked on the EU FP7 projects LIDER and Portdial. For his PhD thesis, he worked on the framework M-ATOLL, which extracts valid lexicalizations for a given ontology in respect to a text corpus. The outcome is a lexicon in the lemon-format and is published at DBlexipedia. Sebastian Walter left the Semantic Computing Group in 2016.
