Cord Wiljes studied Chemistry and Philosophy at Bielefeld University. In his thesis he worked on the "Detection of Reactive Species in Flames using Cavity Ring Down Spectroscopy". He received his Diploma in 1997. After working as an IT consultant for several years he joined the Semantic Computing Group at CITEC in 2011. He is currently working on novel approaches for the semantic representation and retrieval of chemical research data.
